Social media was abuzz on Monday after the City of Delaware posted photos of an unusual object found during the August 22 Olentangy River Clean-Up.

Weighing a sprightly 880 pounds, the City shared that the UFO-shaped object had been recycled with proceeds going to a worthy recipient.

In response to a question posed by the City on Facebook and Twitter asking for the object’s identity, answers took two forms. First, there were a handful of respondents who shared that it was likely the lid to a hog feeder or something from Whitesands Campground.

Our favorites, however, we of the other variety. Let it never be said that Delaware Countians do not have strong senses of humor. The best, in our opinion, was that shared by Bonnie Becker::
