The City of Delaware is a member of JASCO – the Japan-America Society of Central Ohio – and is participating in the Japan-America Grassroots Summit in September.
The 2023 meeting of this annual gathering is an opportunity for Delaware families to host guests from Japan for 3-nights during their visit to Ohio. Delaware, which has a sister city partnership with Sakata, Japan, is one of 8 area cities participating.

The Japan-America Society of Central Ohio (JASCO) is anon-profit organization dedicated to fostering a stronger relationship between Japanese and American communities. Established with a mission to create an informed dialogue about the U.S.-Japan relationship, JASCO focuses on promoting understanding through the dissemination of knowledge about Japan. As one of the 38 chapters of the National Association of Japan-America Societies spread across the U.S., it works to unite Japanese American communities.

JASCO was inaugurated in 1997 at The Ohio State University and since then, it has been dedicated to meeting the diverse needs of the Japanese living in Ohio as well as Ohioans who are interested in Japanese culture. Its services span across various domains including business, education, and diaspora community needs. Whether it’s providing resources or aiding engagement with Japan, JASCO is at your service.

On June 13 at 6 pm in City Hall chambers, JASCO director Dr. Benjamin Patcher will hold an information session for interested Delaware families. Email for more information
