This weekend, Delaware is set to transform into a vibrant hub of creativity and culture with the return of the highly anticipated Delaware Arts Festival. Scheduled for May 18 and 19, the festival invites families, art enthusiasts, and community members to immerse themselves in a world of artistic expression, tantalizing food, and lively entertainment.

Art and Artists Take Center Stage

Downtown Delaware will come alive as artists and crafters set up their white tents along Sandusky and East & West Winter Streets. Visitors can expect an eclectic array of artistic creations ranging from handcrafted jewelry and leather goods to unique tie-dyed art and exquisite pottery. Art lovers will also find an impressive selection of paintings and photography, each piece telling its own story and capturing the imagination of onlookers.

Culinary Delights and Musical Pleasures

Amidst all there is to see, festival-goers can enjoy a variety of culinary offerings from food trucks and concession stands set up along South Sandusky Street. Whether it’s indulging in gourmet bites or savoring traditional festival fare, there’s something to satisfy every palate. Complementing the feast for the senses, a lineup of musicians will provide a soundtrack to the festivities, ensuring that the atmosphere remains electrifying from start to finish.

A Commitment to the Arts

At its core, the Delaware Arts Festival is more than just an event; it’s a community-driven initiative focused on supporting and nurturing the arts. This year, the festival is proud to continue its tradition of fostering young talent by awarding $20,000 in scholarships to three outstanding senior high school art students from the county. These scholarships underscore the festival’s dedication to encouraging the next generation of artists by assisting them in their pursuit of visual arts studies at the university level.

Gratitude and Partnerships

The success of the Delaware Arts Festival is made possible by the hard work and commitment of countless volunteers and the generous support of sponsors and community partners. Special thanks go out to everyone involved, including the DATA shuttle bus drivers, local police officers, security personnel, firefighters, EMTs, and public works employees. The City of Delaware, along with the City Manager’s office and the Delaware County District Library, also play crucial roles, particularly in hosting the Student Art Show and facilitating the logistics of the event.

Planning Your Visit

For those planning to attend, free shuttle service is provided by Delaware County Transit. Shuttles will operate from 145 Union Street, behind the Delaware County Courthouse, to William & Sandusky Streets. Shuttle hours are aligned with the festival times, running from 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM on Saturday and 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM on Sunday.
