DCHS Program Digs into the History of Farm Energy
How did local farms evolve from lantern-lit barns to solar-powered fields? The Delaware County Historical Society (DCHS) invites you to find out during an upcoming program that sheds light on the fascinating story of farm energy—past, present, and future.
A Look Back—And Ahead—at Powering Agriculture
On Thursday, April 24 at 7:00 PM, the public is invited to attend The History of Farm Energy, a free program hosted at the Barn at Stratford, 2690 Stratford Road in Delaware. Part of DCHS’s ongoing series highlighting agricultural life in the county, this special event will explore the evolution of how Delaware County farmers have powered their operations over the decades.

The featured speaker is Dan Boysel, Vice President of Community and Government Relations for Consolidated Cooperative. With decades of experience in energy and rural development, Boysel will trace the journey from traditional, pre-electric methods through the game-changing Rural Electrification Act of the 1930s, all the way to today’s innovations like wind turbines and solar arrays.
Watch from Anywhere—Livestream Tickets Available
For those who prefer to attend virtually, a live feed option is available for just $5, which helps cover production costs. Registrants will receive a YouTube link a few days prior to the event—just be sure to check your spam folder.
