Yes, it’s October. Yes, we still have Halloween and Thanksgiving before the holiday season, and then of course there’s fall. Still, it’s never too early to do some planning.

In that vein, Main Street Delaware has announced dates for the downtown’s “Home for the Holidays Weekend” kickoff festivities. Pencil these into your calendars – we recommend using red or green ink.[widgets_on_pages id=1]

Friday, November 30 from 6 to 9 PM

  • Tree lighting
  • Santa
  • Reindeer
  • Carolers
  • Horse-drawn carriage rides

Saturday, December — All Day

Dash for Dasher Scavenger Hunt from 11 AM to 1 PM
Santa has lost Dasher! Explore downtown following Santa’s clues to find him and have fun along the way. Voluntary donation: box of cereal or monetary.

Visit Santa House at the Strand from 1 to 3 PM

Holiday shopping all day! Shop our downtown stores with holiday specials.

Sunday, December 2 at 3 PM

Holiday Parade at 3 PM, stepping off from Mingo Park. The Post Office will collect your letters to Santa at the start of the parade!
