Big moments, popular destinations, and unique attractions are at the heart of a brand-new commercial promoting all the places in Ohio to create memories with loved ones this spring and summer.

The Heart of Big Moments, which hit broadcast, connected TV, YouTube, and social media channels on June 5, features a grandmother and her college-age granddaughter sharing spontaneous experiences together. This lively 30-second ad takes viewers on a journey of distinctive Ohio destinations through the eyes of the adventurous pair. The ladies’ stops include:

  • Soaking in the gorgeous architecture at the Cincinnati Museum Center.
  • Ziplining through the trees of the Hocking Hills Canopy Tours.
  • Dancing in front of the World’s Largest Cuckoo Clock in Amish Country.
  • Jumping for joy outside the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland

“Ohio is more than just a place on a map. It’s a place in people’s hearts and a place where memories are made,” said Gov. Mike DeWine. “Like the grandmother and granddaughter in our new campaign video, we encourage everyone to experience the joy and excitement found in the heart of the heartland.”

The campaign is targeted to reach Ohio, Indiana, Michigan, Kentucky, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia residents in a total of 28 media markets.

Ohio locations and attractions featured in the ad include:

  • Mohican State Park in Loudonville
  • Over-the-Rhine in Cincinnati
  • National Museum of the U.S. Air Force in Dayton
  • Guggisberg Cheese in Amish Country
  • Cincinnati Museum Center
  • Hocking Hills Canopy Tours
  • Young’s Jersey Dairy in Yellow Springs
  • Hoover Reservoir in Westerville
  • World’s Largest Cuckoo Clock in Amish Country
  • Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland
  • Parasailing at Lake Erie
  • Short North Arts District in Columbus

“Ohio is a place where dreams are realized, stories are told, and families make memories they will never forget,” said Lydia Mihalik, director of the Ohio Department of Development. “We want people to come to Ohio, we want them to explore Ohio, and we want them to love Ohio.”

The Heart of Big Moments is the sequel to the popular Big Moments ad campaign from 2022 that netted 91 million impressions across multiple broadcast and digital platforms. The 2022 ad campaign subsequently captured a Bronze Telly Award for Regional TV General-Travel/Tourism.

2022 economic impact numbers show Ohio’s tourism industry captured a record $53 billion in visitor spending and welcomed 233 million visitors from Ohio and other states.

Like the 2022 ad, every aspect of The Heart of Big Moments is proudly made and produced in Ohio. Columbus-based Ron Foth Advertising created, recorded, and edited the video, which features Ohio actors wearing clothes from Ohio companies. The Jeep driven on the road trip is built in Toledo, and Ohio folk trio Caamp performed the music.
