During the Liberty Township Board of Trustees meeting on Monday evening, the Board moved to create an advisory body to assist the Township’s business community as it moves forward with Responsible Restart Ohio and beyond.

Work has been underway to establish a Liberty Township Economic Recovery Advisory Committee, whose objective will be “…to assemble business and community leaders representing various industries to identify and advise on opportunities to expedite business recovery and drive opportunity to the area.”

A resolution to approve the charter was tabled at Monday’s meeting pending receipt of needed legal language to be included in the charter, and Trustees reached consensus that the body move ahead with establishing the Committee members first, and approve the charter at the Board’s next meeting or at a special meeting for that purpose.

Members appointed by the Board of Trustees include: Don Rankey, Bob Lamb, Tim Bergwall, Chip Vance, and Erika Boll. Trustee Shyra Eichhorn referred to those named as “An extremely strong board,” and noted that their aim would be to help businesses and residents “get back on their feet” after the current pandemic numbers stabilize. The Advisory Committee would have no authority to legislate or vote on behalf of the Board of Trustees.

At least a couple of these volunteer Committee members serve on similar bodies across the county, Trustee Mike Newell added in thanking them for donating time to Liberty Township.

Trustee Eichhorn also discussed the Shop Local Campaign, a countywide effort that is focusing on 100 businesses and providing short videos, marketing, etc. to invite the community to return for business. A similar collaborative local effort for Powell and Liberty Township is being considered.
