Liberty Township is preparing to hold information sessions regarding three upcoming levy votes. These levies will address critical needs for the maintenance and improvement of roads, parks, and fire and EMS services within the township.
Here’s a breakdown of each levy as shared by the Township:
Roads Levy
This levy proposes an additional tax aimed at the general construction, reconstruction, resurfacing, and repair of streets, roads, and bridges in Liberty Township. The county auditor estimates that this levy will generate $2,713,000 annually. The proposed rate is not to exceed 1 mill per $1 of taxable value, equating to $35 for each $100,000 of the county auditor’s appraised value. This levy will be vital in addressing the ongoing wear and tear on township infrastructure and improving overall road safety.
Parks Levy
The Parks Levy is intended to fund parks and recreational purposes in Liberty Township. Similar to the Roads Levy, it is expected to raise $2,713,000 annually at the same rate of 1 mill per $1 of taxable value. This levy will also cost property owners $35 for each $100,000 of the appraised value. The funds from this levy will be used to enhance and maintain green spaces, recreational facilities, and community parks, ensuring residents have access to quality outdoor environments.
Fire & EMS Levy
The Fire & EMS Levy is designed to support the purchase and maintenance of essential fire and emergency medical equipment, as well as the provision of related services. This levy will be at a rate not exceeding 2.4 mills per $1 of taxable value, amounting to $84 for each $100,000 of appraised value. The annual collection from this levy is estimated at $6,512,000. Approval of this levy will be crucial in maintaining rapid response times and the availability of life-saving services for township residents.
Information Sessions
Liberty Township will hold two public information sessions to provide residents with more details and answer questions about these levies. The sessions are scheduled for September 19 and October 2 from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Township Hall.
These levies represent a significant step in ensuring the township’s infrastructure and emergency services are well-maintained and equipped to serve the community. Residents are encouraged to attend the information sessions to learn more and make informed decisions in the upcoming vote.
