Summer is when the most amount of work is undertaken on the region’s roadways. Below is information from the Ohio Department of Transportation for improvement and construction projects for Delaware and Franklin Counties during the coming week.

As always, work is weather dependent.

DELAWARE

The following construction projects are anticipated to affect highways in Delaware County. All outlined work is weather permitting. SR 229 Resurfacing

  • SR 229 between U.S. 23 and the Village of Ashley will have various daytime lane restrictions (7 a.m. – 7 p.m.) starting Monday, May 11 through Fall 2026.

I-71/U.S. 36/SR 37 Sunbury Parkway

  • The I-71 northbound ramp to U.S. 36/SR 37 will be reduced to one lane starting Wednesday, April 8 through Fall 2026.

State Route 315 Slip Repairs

Detour: U.S. 23 to SR 750 to SR 315 or reverse.

SR 315 between SR 750 and U.S. 23 will close starting Monday, March 30 for 120 days.

New Impacts

I-270 Resurfacing and Bridge Rehabilitation

  • The U.S. 33 eastbound ramp to I-270 southbound on the southeast side will close overnight (7 p.m. – 5 a.m.) Thursday, July 23.
    • Detour: U.S. 33 eastbound to SR 317 to U.S. 33 westbound to I-270 southbound
  • I-270 southbound between I-70 and Noe Bixby Rd. on the south east side will be reduced to one lane starting 8 p.m. Friday, July 24 through 5 a.m. Monday, July 27

I-670 Bridge Rehabilitation

  • The U.S. 33 eastbound ramp to I-670 will close overnight (8p.m. – 6a.m.) Friday, July 24 through Sunday, July 26.
    • Detour: U.S. 33 to Grandview Ave. to I-670

I-71 southbound/Main Street Interchange Improvements

  • The I-71 southbound ramp to Main St. will close nightly (9 p.m. – 5 a.m.) Monday, July 20 through Friday, July 24.
    • Detour: I-71 southbound to Spring St. to Broad St. to Parsons Ave. to Main St.

I-270/I-71 Interchange Improvements

  • The Cleveland Ave. northbound ramp to I-270 westbound will close overnight (9 p.m. – 11 p.m.) Thursday, July 23 for overhead sign work.
    • Detour: Cleveland Ave. to I-270 eastbound to SR 3 to I-270 westbound
  • The Cleveland Ave. southbound ramp to I-270 westbound will close overnight (11 p.m. – 2 a.m.) Thursday, July 23 for overhead sign work.
    • Detour: Cleveland Ave. to I-270 eastbound to SR 3 northbound to I-270 westbound
  • I-270 westbound ramp to the I-71 southbound will close overnight (11 p.m. – 2 a.m.) Thursday, July 23 for overhead sign work.
    • Detour: I-270 westbound to Sawmill Parkway to I-270 eastbound to I-71 southbound
  • The I-270 westbound ramp to I-71 northbound will close overnight (11 p.m. – 2 a.m.) Thursday, July 23 for overhead sign work.
    • Detour: I-270 westbound to Sawmill Parkway to I-270 eastbound to I-71 northbound
  • I-270 westbound between Cleveland Ave. and I-71 will be reduced to one lane overnight (11 p.m. – 2 a.m.) Thursday, July 23 for overhead sign work.
  • The U.S. 23 southbound ramp to I-270 eastbound on the north side will close (2 a.m. – 5 a.m.) Friday, July 24.
    • Detour: U.S. 23 southbound to I-270 westbound to Sawmill Parkway to I-270 eastbound
  • The U.S. 23 northbound ramp to I-270 eastbound will close (2 a.m. – 5 a.m.) Friday, July 24 for a traffic switch on I-270 eastbound.
    • Detour: U.S. 23 northbound to I-270 westbound to Sawmill Parkway to I-270 eastbound
  • The I-270 eastbound ramp to I-71 northbound on the northside will close (2 a.m. – 5 a.m.) Friday, July 24.
    • Detour: I-270 eastbound to I-71 southbound to SR 161 to I-71 northbound
  • The I-270 eastbound ramp to I-71 southbound will close (2 a.m. – 5 a.m.) Friday, July 24.
    • Detour: I-270 eastbound to Cleveland Ave to I-270 westbound to I-71 southbound

Upcoming New Impacts

U.S. 33 Culvert Replacement

  • U.S. 33 between Fishinger Rd. and Edgewood Rd. is expected to close starting Monday, August 3 for 45 days.
    • Detour: U.S. 33 to SR 161 to I-270 to Cemetery Rd. to Fishinger Blvd. to Fishinger Rd. or reverse.
      • Note: Any updates to the project schedule will be posted to this website.

Continuing Impacts

I-70 Pavement Reconstruction

  • I-70 westbound traffic will be shifted to the eastbound side of the roadway starting overnight Tuesday, December 9, 2025. Two lanes of traffic will be maintained in each direction through Fall 2026.

Far East Freeway

  • Brice Rd. over I-70 will be reduced to one lane in each direction starting Saturday, August 2, 2025. Two left turn lanes on Brice Rd. northbound to I-70 WB will be maintained.
