For four decades, David and Cindy Probst have called Dublin home. Over the years, they’ve witnessed the evolution of their city from a quiet suburb into a thriving hub for families, businesses, and innovation. Now, their latest act of community stewardship is helping shape the future of healthcare in central Ohio.
A Gift with Lasting Impact
The Probsts have pledged $1 million to the OhioHealth Foundation in support of the largest expansion in the history of OhioHealth Dublin Methodist Hospital. This transformational project will more than double the hospital’s patient capacity, adding over 187,000 square feet of new space. Their gift is not just about bricks and mortar. It’s a signal of confidence in the hospital’s mission and a clear commitment to the health of future generations in Dublin.
“We have called Dublin home for 40 years,” the Probst family shared. “It is our belief that having access to good healthcare is important to everyone.”
More Than Just Supporters
David Probst is no stranger to OhioHealth. A longtime member—and former chair—of the Dublin Methodist Hospital Development Board, he and Cindy have supported the hospital through a wide range of initiatives. These include:
- The Probst Family Nursing Scholarship
- The Probst Family Endowment for Melanoma Care at the Dublin Cancer Center
- Ongoing support for the OhioHealth Foundation Invitational
Their involvement goes beyond financial contributions. It’s clear that the Probsts view healthcare not just as a service, but as a community cornerstone.
Investing in the Future
The hospital’s expansion will address a growing need. Dublin’s population has steadily increased, bringing with it more demand for high-quality, accessible care. As Cherie Smith, president of Dublin Methodist and OhioHealth Grady Memorial Hospital, put it, “This gift will make a meaningful impact on the lives of so many.”
Karen Morrison, president of the OhioHealth Foundation, added, “David and Cindy have seen firsthand the impact that Dublin Methodist has had in meeting the healthcare needs of Dublin’s growing and diverse community. Their gift ensures that the hospital can continue to provide exceptional care.”
A Message That Resonates
The Probst family says their decision was driven by gratitude and foresight. “We have been fortunate and want to ensure that future generations can continue to access the same clinical expertise and medical innovations.”
Their gift speaks to a larger truth: that healthcare is not just a service, but a shared responsibility. In supporting this expansion, the Probsts are helping make sure that Dublin’s growth is matched by its capacity to care.
This story is not just about a donation. It’s about what happens when long-term residents invest deeply in the place they call home—and invite others to do the same.
