On Wednesday, March 5, the Delaware County District Library will host an evening with Rebe Huntman, a memoirist, essayist, dancer, teacher, poet, and Delaware resident. Huntman’s memoir, My Mother in Havana!, is a deeply personal exploration of her relationship with her mother, intertwined with her search for the sacred feminine within Afro-Cuban traditions. The event will take place at the Delaware Main Library in the Delaware Community Room at 6 p.m.

An Evening of Conversation with Dr. Christopher Fink

In an intimate conversation, Rebe Huntman will discuss her memoir with Dr. Christopher Fink, a professor from Ohio Wesleyan University. Dr. Fink, an expert in Cuban migration, food, and identity, brings a rich background in food and culture to this event, making for a unique and insightful discussion. Huntman’s reflections on her mother and her connection to Afro-Cuban gods and ghosts will be explored, with a focus on the sacred dance rituals and personal pilgrimage that formed her story.

Cuban Culture Comes to Delaware

Attendees can look forward to an evening filled with Cuban culture.
