The Delaware County District Library (DCDL) will host its 9th annual Great GeekFest comic convention on Friday, November 6, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the Delaware Branch Library, located at 84 E. Winter St. in downtown Delaware. The free, all-ages event celebrates comic books, gaming, cosplay, film, literature, and pop culture.

Great GeekFest transforms the entire Delaware Branch Library into an immersive experience featuring fandom-themed decor, interactive photo opportunities, scavenger hunts, live entertainment, and hands-on activities.

Highlights of the 2026 event schedule include:

Cosplay Competitions

The Main Stage will host three age-tiered cosplay contests, beginning with the Kids Cosplay Parade (ages 0–12) at 4:30 p.m. (lineup at 4:15 p.m.), where every participant receives a prize. The Teen Cosplay Contest (ages 13–17) takes place at 5:30 p.m. (lineup at 5:15 p.m.), followed by the Adult Cosplay Contest (ages 18+) at 7:00 p.m. (lineup at 6:45 p.m.). Prize baskets will be awarded to top teen and adult entries, with one combined Grand Prize winner crowned the 2026 Crown Champion. Advance registration for teens and adults is required at www.delawarelibrary.org/greatgeekfest/cosplay.

Dungeons & Dragons Sessions

DCDL will offer six tabletop role-playing sessions throughout the evening (three for teens and three for adults). In-person registration begins at the library at 3:30 p.m. the day of the event on a first-come, first-served basis.

Author & Illustrator Workshop

Acclaimed comic book artist and author Steve Harpster—illustrator of more than 200 books and creator of a YouTube channel with over 350,000 subscribers—will lead a drawing workshop for youth in the Community Room at 4:30 p.m.

Live Music Trivia

Excesss Karaoke & Trivia will host an interactive TV and movie soundtrack trivia game in the Community Room starting at 6:30 p.m. Attendees will need a charged smartphone or WiFi-enabled device to participate.

The event takes place in coordination with Main Street Delaware’s First Friday downtown celebration. Local businesses across downtown Delaware are participating with themed specials, discounts, and activities.

“Comic-cons are vibrant community celebrations of story and fandom, making the public library a natural setting for this event,” said Nicole Fowles, Communications Coordinator at Delaware County District Library. “Whether you are an avid cosplayer, a gamer, or simply curious to explore something new, the Great GeekFest offers a welcoming environment with something for everyone.”

The Great GeekFest is presented with support from the Friends of the Delaware County District Library. Admission to the library and all hosted activities is free and open to the public.
