Artistic expression doesn’t fade with age—it evolves, matures, and deepens. That’s the spirit behind the Senior Showcase: Art After 55, a juried art exhibit and competition celebrating the vibrant creativity of artists aged 55 and over. The much-anticipated 2025 edition is now officially open for entries.
A Collaborative Celebration of Creativity
The exhibit is presented by a trio of Delaware County cultural leaders: The Arts Castle, Willow Brook Christian Communities, and the Delaware County District Library. Their shared mission is to honor the life stories and creative talents of older adults—many of whom are only now discovering or reigniting their passion for the arts.
How to Enter the Showcase
Artists who are 55 or older may submit up to three original works of art for jury consideration. Eligible works must have been completed within the last six years and fall into either 2D or 3D categories. Accepted mediums include:
- 2D: Painting, drawing, photography, computer art, and mixed media
- 3D: Ceramics, sculpture, jewelry, fiber, metal, wood, glass, and stone
The jurying fee ranges from $10 to $20 depending on the number of entries. All submissions must be received by 5:00 PM on Monday, June 9, 2025.
Entry forms are available at all Delaware County District Library locations and The Arts Castle, or they can be downloaded online at www.delawarelibrary.org/seniorshowcase.
From Exhibition to Countywide Tour
The main exhibition opens at The Arts Castle on July 21 and will run through October 11. During this time, visitors can enjoy a wide range of powerful, expressive works created by seniors from across the county.
But the spotlight doesn’t stop there.
Winning entries will earn cash prizes and will be featured in a traveling showcase. The tour will stop at Willow Brook Delaware Run from October 13 to 31, before making its final appearance at the Orange Branch of the Delaware County District Library from November 4 to 21.
Why It Matters
The Senior Showcase is more than an art exhibit—it’s a platform for personal storytelling, creative awakening, and community connection. It offers a reminder that artistic dreams don’t retire—and that it’s never too late to share your vision with the world.
