Join the Friends of the Delaware Library for a book and media sale at the Garage of the Main Library in downtown Delaware on May 19 and 20.

More than 10,000 books as well as CDs and DVDs are available. These items are in good condition. Pricing: $1 paperbacks, $2 hardbacks, $20 for a Friends bag full of books. If you are refilling a Friends bag that you bought previously, it is only $15. Come visit on May 19 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM (books only; no media) or on May 20, 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM to take advantage of this terrific sale.

Media sales begin on May 20 at 10 AM with a price tag of $1 each or 6 for $5. Get there early for the best selection and add more DVDs to your personal library at a bargain.

According to its website, the Friends is a non-profit, all volunteer organization whose mission is to advocate for and raise funds to support the Delaware County District Library programs & services.

‘The organization promotes the library at local community and business gatherings and organizes events like author visits for adults and children as well as writers workshops to foster literacy. Additionally, they back the library’s Makers Studios. Established in 2007, the Friends of the Delaware County District Library is a non-profit entity dedicated to supporting the mission, services, and needs of the Delaware County District Library (DCDL). Their goal is to bring public attention to DCDL and its numerous contributions to the Delaware County community.

To raise funds, the Friends engage in volunteer service by organizing book sales, author visits, and children’s events, along with collecting membership fees and donations. DCDL grants aid in sustaining the Summer Reading Club and various other library initiatives.

When you join, donate or volunteer with the Friends you support all four DCDL branches: Delaware, Orange, Ostrander and Powell. They are always looking for volunteers to help with our Friends initiatives and activities.
