Special to 1808Delaware

ODOT has re-opened U.S. 23 to two lanes in both directions between Meeker Way and Ohio 315. The area remains a work zone, however, with reduced lane widths and slightly shifted traffic patterns. ODOT may still require short term lane closures during the workday, and overnight paving will occur in the coming weeks. We will share specific schedule information from ODOT as it becomes available.

In other local road construction news:

  • Paving along the south side of US 36/Ohio 37 will be taking place soon as part of the Point Improvement project.  After the paving, 36/37 traffic will switch to the south side of the road so that work can take place on the north side.  More information will be provided when this occurs.
  • Later this summer the temporary railroad bridge at the Point will be constructed.  The initial installation of steel girders will require a short-term full closure of 36/37.  More information will be provided well in advance of this closure.
  • Pennsylvania Avenue paving, the final step of a multi-year project that included installation of new water lines and gas lines, is being done in two phases. The first, from Executive Boulevard to Sandusky Street will be completed by Sept. 7. This includes the multi-use path between Executive and Euclid Ave. Work will be suspended from 9/10 to 9/22 to accommodate the county fair. The second phase, from Executive Blvd. west to Troy Road, will begin Sept. 23 and be completed by Nov. 1. Included in this phase is widening for the Heritage Blvd. turn lane and sidewalk improvements across the railroad tracks and along the Penn Lanes property. The paving work has started later than planned because of delays in project agreements and unexpected gas line and utility work.
