It seems fitting as the new school year nears for Delaware County itself to get its own report card.

The verdict, according to website Niche.com?

A Plus.

In fact, Delaware County finished first in “Best Counties to Live in Ohio.”

The lifestyle site shared its methodology in how it evaluated counties across the country, and then used those scores to rank counties in each state. Some of the 14 factors considered include violent and property crime rates; community health statistics; education levels; commute times; and ethnic, generational, and economic diversity.

Those factors can be seen here.

Delaware County finished first among Ohio counties in the following areas: Best for Families; Best to Buy a House; and Best Public Schools. The county ranked second in Healthiest.

According to its website, “Niche is the best place to research US colleges, schools, neighborhoods, and companies. Every month millions of people use our easy-to-read and comprehensive report cards, rankings, and reviews to choose the right schools or neighborhoods for them. Niche does rigorous cleaning and analysis on large data sets, and combines them with feedback from our community for nuanced insight that can’t be found anywhere else.
