Numbers shared on Friday by the Ohio Department of Health suggest that Delaware Countians are taking vaccination against COVID-19 very seriously.

Across Ohio, 2,730,835 people — or 23.36% of the population — have taken at least one shot of an authorized vaccine; 1,565.614 people have completed that process (one or two shots depending on the vaccine). That represents 13.39% of Ohioans.

A small portion of those represent shot takers whose residency was not reported or who are residents of other states.

Currently, over 83,000 people join in that first set of numbers each day.

Delaware Countians are taking the vaccination route at a quicker pace that any of its surrounding counties.

As of Friday, 56,315 residents (26.2%) here have taken at least one shot. Some 32,155 of those have completed the process. That means that 15.37% are fully vaccinated.

Surrounding counties had the following percentages of completed vaccinations — Union 14.33%, Marion 13.47%, Morrow 12.19%, Knox 11.65%, Licking 13.17%, Franklin 12.35%.
