Two Delaware County entities have been recognized by the Ohio Auditor Keith Faber’s Office for excellence in financial reporting.

The Delaware Area Career Center and the Delaware Public Health District each received an Auditor of State Award for achieving a “clean” audit in February. The awards are presented to local governments and school districts that demonstrate strong financial management and reporting practices.

“By keeping accurate financial records, governing bodies demonstrate their commitment to efficient, effective, and transparent service,” Auditor Faber said. “This award honors public entities that have put in the hard work to keep their finances in order.”

What Defines a “Clean” Audit

To qualify for the award, entities must meet a stringent set of criteria established by the Auditor of State’s Office, including:

  • Filing financial reports on time through the Hinkle System in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Receiving no findings for recovery or material citations
  • Having no material weaknesses or significant deficiencies
  • Reporting no Uniform Guidance (Single Audit) findings or questioned costs

Additionally, the entity’s management letter must be free of concerns related to ethics referrals, public records compliance, bank reconciliation issues, or delayed reporting.

Entities must also demonstrate an overall absence of financial or operational concerns.

Accessing the Reports

Full audit reports for these and other entities are available through the Auditor of State’s online audit search database.
