A new apartment complex may well be on its way to Delaware if the City of Delaware Planning Commission accepts a staff recommendation to approve the Final Development Plan for the Seattle House Apartments.

Located on the north side of US 36/37 and the south side of Bowtown Road just east of Chesrown auto storage lot, the current application is for ten apartment buildings to be constructed on one portion of the 24.2 acre development site. The complex would be accessed via the main traffic signal for Glenwood Commons through a north/south access road.

The Seattle House Apartments would feature 240 units in ten buildings divided into 60 one bed and 180 two bed apartments. Each building would be three stories/42 feet high, and units would range in size from 678 to 933 square feet.

Some 6.29 acres of open space would be included with a clubhouse/pool, deck, grill station, fire pit and chairs; community garden; large open space playfield; dog park, and benches.

The exterior would have Delaware blue vein limestone or equivalent wainscoting. Units facing Biltmore Drive and Bowtown Road would have hardie plank instead of vinyl.

Staff has recommended approval with 23 conditions.

The meeting will take place at 6:30 PM on Wednesday, March 6 in Council Chambers.
