It’s not every day that central Ohioans have the opportunity to listen to the sounds of zithers and other multiple stringed instruments.

One such occasion comes this week in the form of the 28th Annual Buckeye Dulcimer Festival. From March 6 through March 10, Recreation Unlimited at 7700 Piper Road in Ashley will host this unique opportunity for acoustic instrument players to learn, listen, and play together.

In case you are unaware, a dulcimer is a type of musical instrument consisting of many strings stretched across  a thin, flat body, similar to a psaltery. They come in many forms, including hammered, Appalachian, banjo, resonator, bowed, and electric.

Hours for the Buckeye Dulcimer Festival are as follows:

  • Wednesday: 2 PM to 8 PM
  • Thursday and Friday: 9 AM to 7 PM
