It’s an ideal way for reserving pickleball court time at Dublin’s Coffman Park.
Here’s how it works. The City launched a pilot reservation program earlier this week for six of the park’s eight dedicated pickleball courts. Dublin residents may reserve a court up to one week in advance through their Dublin Community Recreation Center account or the Dublin Recreation app.
The change adds the opportunity for scheduled play without turning the entire complex into a reservation-only facility. Review the city’s pickleball page and reservation instructions.
Six Courts Join The Calendar
Thos six reservable courts are available for bookings from 12:00 PM to 11:00 PM every day, and when one of those courts has not been reserved, it remains available for drop-in play. The other two courts will continue operating as they have been on a first-come, first-served basis.
That arrangement gives players several options. A group can plan a match in advance, arrive for an open court, or use the existing paddle-rack rotation when all courts are occupied. Reservations which are made may be canceled at any time, although since the pilot page does not identify a fee, reservation length, or announced end date, players should consult the live booking system for the terms attached to an available time.
Residency Required
The person making the reservation must have an active DCRC account and have verified City of Dublin residency. A resident may then invite both residents and nonresidents to join the game. The distinction matters because a Dublin mailing address does not always mean a household within city boundaries. The city’s online boundary map shows which addresses are classified as “City Resident” for Recreation Services.
New DCRC accounts are automatically created with nonresident status. A resident who needs that status changed must submit a current driver’s license. If the license carries an outdated address, the city also requires a current utility bill showing the person’s name and address to prove current residency Staff say online residency reviews generally take one to two business days. Documents also may be presented in person at the Dublin Community Recreation Center, 5600 Post Road.
A Live View Of The Wait
Here’s what makes this even better. The reservation pilot joins another tool intended to make a trip to Coffman Park more predictable. The city’s pickleball page includes a real-time court-activity display. Green indicates an open court, yellow represents an estimated 15-minute wait, and red signals a wait of at least 30 minutes. Dublin says those number may be adjusted in response to observed use and player feedback.
Players looking beyond the eight Coffman Park courts also have tennis courts striped for pickleball at Avery, Balgriffin, Brighton, Donegal Cliffs, Wellington, and Woods of Brighton parks. Another lined court is located near the recreation center in Coffman Park.
For the city, the new pilot is a test of whether a calendar can make busy courts easier to share. For players, it creates a choice between claiming a time and keeping the familiar spontaneity of drop-in play.
