The Central Ohio Symphony is set to launch its 46th season with a series of remarkable performances that promise to captivate audiences across the region. Under the masterful direction of Conductor Jaime Morales-Matos, who enters his 22nd season with the Symphony, this year’s lineup will offer an eclectic mix of classical masterpieces and new compositions, all delivered with the energy and precision that has made the Symphony a cornerstone of Central Ohio’s cultural scene.

This season’s concerts will take place in the stunning Gray Chapel on the Ohio Wesleyan University campus in Delaware, Ohio. Known for its exceptional acoustics and visual splendor, Gray Chapel provides the perfect setting for experiencing the rich musical offerings of the Central Ohio Symphony. Attendees can look forward to an intimate experience that allows them to fully appreciate the artistry and teamwork of the musicians.

A Season of Expanding Horizons

The debut concert, titled “Expanding Horizons,” will feature an extraordinary collaboration between the Central Ohio Symphony, the internationally acclaimed Dalí Quartet, and the talented Delaware Hayes Players. This concert will present two Ohio premieres: Festiva No. 2 by Sonia Ivette Morales and Suite Latina by Atlanta-based composer Juan R. Ramírez, both of which promise to bring vibrant, contemporary energy to the program.

In addition to these premieres, the Hayes Players and the Dalí Quartet will join forces with the Symphony for a powerful rendition of William Grant Still’s Danzas de Panama, a piece that captures the essence of Panamanian folk music. The evening will culminate with a performance of Beethoven’s Symphony No. 5, one of the most iconic and stirring compositions in the classical repertoire.

Bringing Music to the Community

“Expanding Horizons” is more than just a concert—it’s an educational and community outreach initiative. The Dalí Quartet will work with all 600 students in the Delaware City Schools Orchestra program, giving young musicians the opportunity to learn from and perform alongside professionals. This engagement underscores the Symphony’s commitment to nurturing the next generation of musicians and enriching the cultural life of Delaware.
