Special to 1808Delaware

The Friends of the Library (FOL), a volunteer organization that supports the Delaware County District Libraries, donated $50,000 toward the Maker Studio at the new Liberty Branch located at Home and Steitz Roads.

A Maker Studio is a workshop that provides the community with access to highly specialized equipment, materials, and guidance from experts. The equipment includes 3D printers, a laser cutter/engraver, a wide format printer, sewing machines, an embroidery machine, robotic kits, a heat press and a vinyl cutter.

The new library is due to open soon, and library patrons will be able to use the machines to create whatever they can imagine. They can also be trained to use these cutting-edge technologies. Projects from 3D design/printing to sewing projects can be imagined, designed, and brought to life.

Currently, the Delaware Main Library has a Maker Studio and more than 1000 people visited it during 2022. This current donation from the Friends of the Library will be used to buy equipment for the new Liberty Library.

To make a donation to the new Maker Studio, please email FOL President Karen Cowan at [email protected] or call 614.398.0434.
