Ohio Governor Mike DeWine today announced the appointment of Marianne Hemmeter to the Delaware County Court of Common Pleas, General Division.

Hemmeter, of Delaware, will assume office on February 11, 2025, and will be taking the seat held by Judge David Gormley, who will assume a position on the Fifth District Court of Appeals. She will serve the remainder of the unfinished term and will need to run for election in November 2026 to retain the seat.

With 27 years of legal experience, Hemmeter has served as a judge on the Delaware Municipal Court since 2015. Previously, she held the role of Deputy Director of the Economic Crimes Unit at the Ohio Attorney General’s Office and was appointed interim Delaware County Prosecuting Attorney in 2003.

Hemmeter earned her bachelor’s degree in history from Trinity College in 1994 and her juris doctorate from The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law in 1997.

In her community, Hemmeter is a member of Rotary International.
