There’s nothing like a good play done by a good cast. That’s what is in store tonight and tomorrow as the Delaware Hayes Thespian Troupe stages Almost, Maine, a collection of nine short plays that explore love and loss in a mythical, remote almost-town called Almost, Maine.

The work is being directed by Kelsey Wright.

“Almost, Maine is a play by John Cariani, comprising nine short plays that explore love and loss in a remote, mythical almost-town called Almost, Maine. It premiered at the Portland Stage Company in Portland, Maine in 2004, where it broke box office records and garnered critical acclaim. Cariani adapted the play into a book of the same name, first published in 2020. As of 2018, it had been at the top of the list of plays produced at American high schools for a number of years. ”

According to promotional materials, the Delaware Hayes Thespian Troupe is a group of student thespians who attend or live in the Delaware City School District. Most of our students attend Rutherford B. Hayes High School, though some of our students attend the Delaware Area Career Center, attend Post Secondary or College Credit Plus Classes, or are home schooled within the district.

Tickets are available online at this location. Start time is 7:30 PM both nights; the Hayes Center for the Performing Arts is located at 289 Euclid Avenue in Delaware.
