Partnering organizations from across Delaware County are convening at the Delaware State Park Beach this Saturday to make a difference for the local natural environment.

The Olentangy Watershed Alliance is celebrating its 20th Anniversary by hosting a clean-up at Delaware Lake.

Canoes and kayaks will be available to volunteers on a first-come first-served basis to help clean-up around Delaware Lake, launching from the Delaware State Park Beach. All other clean-up supplies will be provided.

Participants must be at least 12 years of age to operate a kayak on their own. A ratio of one-parent to one-child ratio should be used for boats that fit more than one person. Canoes will be limited to two adults, or two adults and one child per boat. All participants under the age of 18 must have a parent or guardian present to sign waivers.

Registration and equipment distribution will be from 8:30-9 AM at the pavilion located at the beach and the clean-up will be from 9-11 AM. Stick around after the clean-up for light refreshments.

Partners for this event include:

  • Keep Delaware County Beautiful
  • ODNR State Parks
  • ODNR Scenic Rivers
  • Ohio Clean Marinas
  • American Kayaking Association
  • City of Delaware Public Utilities Department
  • S. Army Corps of Engineers
  • Preservation Parks of Delaware County
  • Del-Co Water Company
  • Ohio Environmental Protection Agency

In the event of inclement weather, the program will be moved to Sunday, July 21, with registrations from 10-10:30 AM and the clean-up running from 10:30-12:30 PM.
