We made it through the horrible weather of Christmas weekend, and more temperate conditions are in the offing – at least for a week or two.

If you are looking for activities, Ohio State Parks continue to be busy places over the winter months, albeit with slightly reduced water levels for major lakes. According to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, “Water levels are lowered at many state park lakes during the winter months for maintenance, repairs, or flood control. All dates and amounts are subject to change. Time frames are dependent on weather conditions. Certain drawdowns are managed by US Army Corps of Engineers, who have their own timeframe.”

At Alum Creek State Park, for instance, levels are lowered approximately 3 feet, from 888 to 885 foot elevation. The water there will return to normal amounts between March 15 and April 15. Delaware State Park’s lake is lowered 5 feet, from 915 to 910 feet, and is brought back to its normal level slightly earlier – beginning on March 1.

The following are activities at Alum Creek State Park during the remainder of 2002 and the first several days of 2023. For more information on any of these, click here.
