The Stratford Ecological Center is looking for a few people with a passion for maple.

Enjoy kids and nature? The Center is seeking Maple Sugar Tour Guides for February and March. Guide training takes place on February 13 from 10 AM to 1 PM. Tours are scheduled during the week and on Saturdays during the sugaring season.

Help is also needed with various aspects of the maple sugar season at Stratford. This includes sap collectors and cookers,

According to its website, the Stratford Ecological Center is involved with the following:

  • Provides hands-on experiential education for individuals to learn ecological concepts, understand human ecology and gain a reverence for the diversity, complexity and beauty of the natural world.
  • Manages a diversified working “family farm,” which demonstrates the lifestyle, techniques and principles of sustainable agriculture, horticulture and forestry as well as promotes agroecological research.
  • Strives to preserve the natural ecosystems of existing woods, stream sides, meadows and swamps located on its 236-acre property.
