All across Delaware County the upcoming weekend will see parades, services, and other events commemorating Memorial Day. A partial list follows (this will be updated if we learn of additional events):

Delaware

Monday, 10 AM – A Memorial Day ceremony on Monday, May 30, will begin at 10 am at Oak Grove Cemetery, 334 S. Sandusky Street. The ceremony, organized by local Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 1095, will include a flag presentation, speeches, the playing of “Taps,” and a rifle and cannon volley. The group asks attendees to please bring a lawn chair.

Sunbury

Monday, 8 AM  to 4 PM – Memorial Day Flea Market, Village Square – All proceeds from this event will be spent directly on the Music programs available for Big Walnut’s students in 7-12 grade. We ask all visitors for a $1 donation for entrance which includes access to 80-100 vendors, 5-8 food vendors and a kid’s zone featuring bounce houses, face painting, area to design thank you cards for veterans and music from our High School Band members.

Powell

Monday, 10 AM – Memorial Day Parade & Ceremony, Village Green Park. Visit the Rotary Club of Olentangy Field of Flags starting Friday evening through Memorial Day

Westerville

After two years, the complete Field of Heroes experience is back. Joining the field of over 3,000 full size American Flags, flag dedications, and a 5K race, will be the traditional Tribute Area, Education Tent, a Saturday evening performance by the Westerville Concert Band, a Sunday evening program “Voices of Westerville” to honor Westerville’s Military History and Veterans, a Flag Retirement ceremony and the Closing Ceremony on Monday.
