A Winter Weather Advisory for Delaware County and surrounding areas is in effect from 1 PM Friday to 10 AM Saturday. Here’s what you need to know:

❄️ Expected Snow: 2 to 4 inches of accumulation.
🚗 Impacts: Slippery road conditions likely, particularly during the Friday evening commute.
🛑 Precautions: Drive cautiously and check OHGO.com for updated road conditions.

Plan ahead and stay safe! 🌨️

As we prepare for another round of snow, here are some key reminders to ensure safety and efficiency issued by the City of Delaware:

🛠️ How You Can Help

  • Clear Sidewalks: Keep your sidewalks free of snow and ice to ensure safe passage for neighbors and students walking to school. (City ordinance 521.06)
  • Avoid Passing Plows: Never pass an actively plowing truck traveling in the same direction.
  • Keep Streets Clear: Do not shovel or blow snow into the street, and move parked cars off the road to give plows better access.

🚧 Snow Operations Priorities

  • Priority 1 & 2 Routes: These main roads with higher traffic volume and speed limits get plowed first.
  • Priority 3 Routes (Residential Streets): Plowing begins after Priority 1 and 2 streets are cleared, focusing on neighborhoods with upcoming trash collection. These routes are plowed during storms with 3+ inches of snow.
  • Bike Paths & Parking Lots: Managed by the Parks & Recreation team using smaller equipment.

🧂 Pre-Treatment

  • Roads are pre-treated with brine before storms to prevent snow and ice from bonding, making plowing more effective.

Let’s work together to keep Delaware safe and accessible this winter! 😊
