The Delaware County Board of Elections has a new member.

Tom Foos, a Republican and 27-year resident of Delaware County, was sworn in by Delaware County Probate/Juvenile Court Judge David Hejmanowski during a March 8 ceremony at the BOE’s headquarters.

Foos, who retired from the U.S. Marine Corps as a lieutenant colonel and runs a security and preparedness consulting firm out of Powell, said he’s proud to represent the voters of Delaware County.

“I am honored to have been selected and appointed as a member of the Delaware County Board of Elections,” Foos said. “I look forward to working with other board members, ensuring our Board of Elections continues to set the highest standards in elections operations and integrity.”

The Delaware County Board of Elections recently was honored by Ohio Secretary of State Frank LaRose for its outstanding performance during the 2020 Presidential Election when the county’s voter turnout was among the highest in the state.

Foos replaces former BOE member Shawn Stevens, who was appointed on March 9 to replace Rick Carfagna as the Ohio House’s 68th District Representative. Carfagna resigned his Ohio House position Feb. 27 to take a position with the Ohio Chamber of Commerce.
