This weekly report from ODOT District 6 highlights road construction projects which are beginning or underway in the multi-county area it serves. What follows are posted projects taking place within Delaware and Franklin Counties. Please stay safe and pay attention to these closures and work taking place during the week beginning on August 28.

DELAWARE COUNTY

U.S. Route 42

NEW IMPACTS

U.S. 42 northbound between Klondike and Section Line-Rd. will close starting Monday, August 29 for 84 days. Detour: SR 257 northbound to U.S. 36 eastbound to U.S. 23 southbound to U.S. 42.

Freshwater Rd. at U.S. 42 will close starting Monday, August 29 for 42 days. Detour: Klondike Rd. to Riverside Dr. to Bean-Oller Rd. to S. Section-Line Rd. to U.S. 42

State Route 745

NEW IMPACTS

SR 745 between Home Rd. and U.S. 42 will close starting Monday, August 29 through Friday, September 2 for culvert replacement.

  • Detour: U.S. 42 to SR 257 to Home Rd. to SR 745 or reverse.

FRANKLIN COUNTY

Interstate 670

NEW IMPACTS

  • The I-670 eastbound ramp to I-71 northbound will close nightly (7 p.m. – 5 a.m.) starting Sunday, August 28 through Tuesday, August 30.
    • Detour: I-670 eastbound to Leonard Ave. to I-670 westbound to I-71 northbound.
  • The Grandview Ave. ramp to I-670 eastbound will close nightly (7 p.m. – 5 a.m.) starting Sunday, August 28 through Wednesday, August 31.
    • Detour: Grandview Ave. to I-670 westbound to Hague Ave. to Fisher Rd. to I-70 eastbound to I-670 eastbound.
  • The I-670 westbound ramp to Grandview Ave. will close nightly (7 p.m. – 5 a.m.) starting Sunday, August 28 through Wednesday, August 31.
    • Detour: I-670 westbound to U.S. 33 eastbound to Grandview Ave.
  • I-670 westbound and eastbound between Grandview Ave. and I-71 will have nightly lane restrictions (7 p.m. – 5 a.m.) starting Sunday, August 28 through Thursday, September 1.
  • The U.S. 33 ramp to I-670 eastbound will close nightly (9 p.m. – 5 a.m.) starting Sunday, August 28 through Wednesday, August 31.
    • Detour: U.S. 33 eastbound to Grandview Ave. to I-670 westbound to Hague Ave. to Fisher Rd. to I-70 eastbound to I-670 eastbound.
  • The I-670 westbound ramp to SR 315 southbound will close overnight (7 p.m. – 5 a.m.) on Wednesday, August 31.
    • Detour: I-670 westbound to Neil Ave. to U.S. 33 westbound.
  • The U.S. 33 ramp to I-670 westbound will close overnight (7 p.m. – 5 a.m.) on Thursday, September 1.
    • Detour: U.S. 33 westbound to Grandview Ave. to I-670 westbound.
  • The I-670 eastbound ramp to U.S. 33/SR 315 southbound will close overnight (7 p.m. – 5 a.m.) on Thursday, September 1.
    • Detour: I-670 eastbound to Neil Ave. to U.S. 33 westbound.

Interstate 270

NEW IMPACTS

I-270 northbound and southbound at Sullivant Ave. will have nightly lane restrictions (6 p.m. – 5 a.m.) starting Monday, August 29 through September 2022.

NEW IMPACTS

I-270 eastbound and westbound between U.S. 23 and I-71 on the south side will have overnight lane restrictions (7 p.m. – 5 a.m.) on Wednesday, August 31 and Thursday, September 1.

State Route 665

UPCOMING NEW IMPACTS

The SR 665 bridge over the Scioto River between Hibbs Rd. and U.S. 23 will close starting Thursday, September 8 for 40 days. Detour: SR 104 to SR 762 to U.S. 23.

UPCOMING NEW IMPACTS

SR 665 between U.S. 62 and Young Rd. will close starting Tuesday, September 6 through Monday, September 12 for pavement work.

  • Detour: U.S. 62 to I-71 to SR 665.

Interstates 70/71 Reconstruction – I-70/71 will experience lane restrictions through downtown Columbus to widen and reconstruct the roadway, replace bridges over the interstate, rebuild ramps, and construct new urban avenues parallel to the interstate. Various downtown ramps will permanently close. Estimated completion: Fall 2025

  • I-71 southbound between I-670 and Main St. will have nightly lane restrictions (10 p.m. – 5 a.m.) starting Sunday, August 28 through Thursday, September 1.
  • The I-71 southbound ramp to Main St. will close nightly (9 p.m. – 5 a.m.) starting Sunday, August 28 through Thursday, September 1.
    • Detour: I-71 southbound to I-670 westbound to SR 315 southbound to I-70 eastbound to Livingston Ave, to 4th St. to Main St.
  • The I-670 westbound ramp to I-71 southbound will close nightly (9 p.m. – 5 a.m.) starting Sunday, August 28 through Thursday, September 1.
    • Detour: I-670 westbound to SR 315 southbound to I-71 southbound.
  • The 5th Ave. ramp to I-71 southbound will close overnight (7 p.m. – 5 a.m.) on Monday, August 29 and Tuesday, August 30.
    • Detour: 5th Ave. to I-71 northbound to 11th Ave. to I-71 southbound
  • The Cleveland Ave. ramp to I-71 southbound will close nightly (7 p.m. – 5 a.m.) starting Monday, August 29 through Thursday, September 1.
    • Detour: Cleveland Ave. to I-71 northbound to 11th Ave. to I-71 southbound.
  • The I-670 eastbound ramp to I-71 southbound will close nightly (8 p.m. – 5 a.m.) starting Monday, August 29 through Thursday, September 1.
    • Detour: I-670 eastbound to I-71 northbound to 11th Ave. to I-71 southbound.
  • The I-71 southbound ramp to I-70 eastbound will close nightly (11 p.m. – 5 a.m.) starting Monday, August 29 through Thursday, September 1.
    • Detour: I-670 westbound to SR 315 southbound to I-70 eastbound.
  • Mound St. between Front St. and Civic Center Dr. is closed until Friday, September 2.
    • Eastbound detour: Civic Center Dr. to Main St. to Front St.
    • Westbound detour: Front St. to Main St. to Civic Center Dr.
    • The entrance ramp to I-70 west will be maintained via 2nd St.

CONTINUING IMPACTS

  • Souder Ave. between Mound St. and Thomas Ave. closed starting June 20, 2022 for one year.
    • Southbound detour: Davis Ave. northbound to Sullivant Ave. westbound to Glenwood Ave. southbound to Mound St. eastbound
    • Northbound detour: Mound St. westbound to Glenwood Ave. northbound to Sullivant Ave. eastbound.
  • The I-70 eastbound exit ramp to Front St. closed permanently June 17, 2022 so crews can construct a new exit ramp. The detour is I-70 east to Livingston Ave. to N. 4th St. to W. Mound St. to High St. or Front St. To access the Franklin County Court House parking garage on Front St., drivers should follow the detour to southbound High St. and continue to Sycamore St. to northbound Front St.
  • W. Fulton St. closed permanently June 17, 2022 between Short St. and Ludlow St.
  • Livingston Ave. closed to through traffic at City Park Ave. on June 17, 2022 until Fall 2024. Traffic coming from the exit ramp will not be impacted.
  • The traffic pattern on the ramp from SR 315 south to I-70 east changed June 17. Instead of SR 315 south traffic remaining in its own lane to join I-70 east, traffic coming from SR 315 south will have to merge with I-70 east traffic. This pattern will be in effect for a little more than a year.
  • The I-70 eastbound ramp to SR 315 northbound closed permanently March 20, 2022. Drivers coming from I-270 on the West Side should use I-670 east to access SR 315 north. Alternate routes include:
    • I-70 east to I-71 north to I-670 west to SR 315 north
    • Central Ave. to McKinley Ave to Grandview Ave. to I-670 east to SR 315 north
    • Rich/Town St. to SR 315 north
  • The Broad St. ramp to I-71 southbound closed permanently in July 2020.
  • Broad St. is reduced to two lanes westbound and one lane eastbound on the bridge over Interstate 71. Traffic is shifted to the new south half of the bridge so crews can demolish and rebuild the north half. This traffic pattern on Broad St. will remain in effect until Summer 2022.
