This weekly report from ODOT District 6 highlights road construction projects which are beginning or underway in the multi-county area it serves. What follows are posted projects taking place within Delaware and Franklin Counties. Please stay safe and pay attention to these closures and work taking place during the week beginning on September 4.

DELAWARE COUNTY

U.S. Route 42

CONTINUING IMPACTS

U.S. 42 northbound between Klondike and Section Line-Rd. will close starting Monday, August 29 for 84 days. Detour: SR 257 northbound to U.S. 36 eastbound to U.S. 23 southbound to U.S. 42.

State Route 61

NEW IMPACTS

SR 61 between West Liberty-Mt. Vernon Rd. and Kilbourne Rd. will close starting Tuesday, September 6 through Friday, September 9 for culvert replacement. Detour: SR 61 to U.S. 36 to I-71 or reverse.


FRANKLIN COUNTY

Interstate 670

NEW IMPACTS

  • The U.S. 33 ramp to I-670 westbound will close nightly (7 p.m. – 5 a.m.) starting Tuesday, September 6 through Friday, September 9.
    • Detour: U.S. 33 westbound to Grandview Ave. southbound to I-670 westbound.
  • The I-670 eastbound ramp to U.S. 33/Dublin Rd./SR 315 southbound will close overnight (7 p.m. – 5 a.m.) starting Tuesday, September 6 through Friday, September 9.
    • Detour: I-670 eastbound to Neil Ave. to U.S. 33.
  • The Elijah Pierce Blvd. ramp to I-71 northbound will close overnight (7 p.m. – 5 a.m.) on Tuesday, September 6 and Wednesday, September 7.
    • Detour: Elijah Pierce Blvd. to I-670 eastbound to Leonard Ave. to I-670 westbound to I-71 northbound.
  • I-670 eastbound and westbound between Grandview Ave. and SR 315 will have nightly lane restrictions (7 p.m. – 5 a.m.) starting Tuesday, September 6 through Friday, September 9.
  • I-71 northbound between I-670 and 5th Ave. will have overnight lane restrictions (7 p.m. – 5 a.m.) on Tuesday, September 6 and Wednesday, September 7.
  • The Grandview Ave. ramp to I-670 eastbound will close overnight (7 p.m. – 5 a.m.) on Thursday, September 8 and Friday, September 9.
    • Detour: Grandview Ave. to I-670 westbound to Hague Ave. to Fischer Rd. to I-70 eastbound to I-670 eastbound.
  • The I-670 westbound ramp to Grandview Ave. will close overnight (7 p.m. – 5 a.m.) on Thursday, September 8 and Friday, September 9.
    • Detour: I-670 westbound to U.S. 33 to Grandview Ave.
  • The U.S. 33 eastbound ramp to I-670 eastbound will close overnight (9 p.m. – 5 a.m.) on Thursday, September 8 and Friday, September 9.
    • Detour: U.S. 33 to Grandview Ave. to I-670 eastbound.

State Route 665

NEW IMPACTS

The SR 665 bridge over the Scioto River between Hibbs Rd. and U.S. 23 will close starting Tuesday, September 6 for 40 days. Detour: SR 104 to SR 762 to U.S. 23.

NEW IMPACTS

SR 665 between U.S. 62 and Young Rd. will close starting Tuesday, September 6 through Monday, September 12 for pavement work.

  • Detour: U.S. 62 to I-71 to SR 665.

UPCOMING NEW IMPACTS

SR 665 between Young Rd. and I-71 will close starting Tuesday, September 13 through Tuesday, September 27.

  • Detour: U.S. 62 to I-71 to SR 665.

Interstates 70/71 Reconstruction – I-70/71 will experience lane restrictions through downtown Columbus to widen and reconstruct the roadway, replace bridges over the interstate, rebuild ramps, and construct new urban avenues parallel to the interstate. Various downtown ramps will permanently close. Estimated completion: Fall 2025

  • The Cleveland Ave. ramp to I-71 southbound will close overnight (7 p.m. – 5 a.m.) on Tuesday, September 6 and Wednesday, September 7.
    • Detour: Cleveland Ave. to I-71 northbound to 11th Ave. to I-71 southbound.
  • The I-670 eastbound ramp to I-71 southbound will close overnight (8 p.m. – 5 a.m.) on Tuesday, September 6 and Wednesday, September 7.
    • Detour: I-670 eastbound to I-71 northbound to 11th Ave. to I-71 southbound.
  • The I-670 westbound ramp to I-71 southbound will close overnight (10 p.m. – 5 a.m.) on Tuesday, September 6 and Wednesday, September 7.
    • Detour: I-670 westbound to SR 315 southbound to I-71 southbound.
  • The I-71 southbound ramp to Main St. will close nightly (9 p.m. – 5 a.m.) starting Tuesday, September 6 through Thursday, September 8.
    • Detour: I-71 southbound to I-70 westbound to SR 315 northbound to Rich St. to Main St.
  • The I-71 southbound ramp to I-70 eastbound will close overnight (11 p.m. – 5 a.m.) on Tuesday, September 6 and Wednesday, September 7.
    • Detour: I-670 westbound to SR 315 southbound to I-70 eastbound
  • I-71 southbound between I-670 and I-70 will have overnight lane restrictions (7 p.m. – 5 a.m.) starting Tuesday, September 6 through Thursday, September 8.
  • The I-71 northbound ramp to Broad St. will close overnight (10 p.m. – 5 a.m.) on Thursday, September 8.
    • Detour: I-71 northbound to Leonard Ave. to Jack Gibbs. Blvd. to Cleveland Ave. to Broad St.

CONTINUING IMPACTS

  • Souder Ave. between Mound St. and Thomas Ave. closed starting June 20, 2022 for one year.
    • Southbound detour: Davis Ave. northbound to Sullivant Ave. westbound to Glenwood Ave. southbound to Mound St. eastbound
    • Northbound detour: Mound St. westbound to Glenwood Ave. northbound to Sullivant Ave. eastbound.
  • The I-70 eastbound exit ramp to Front St. closed permanently June 17, 2022 so crews can construct a new exit ramp. The detour is I-70 east to Livingston Ave. to N. 4th St. to W. Mound St. to High St. or Front St. To access the Franklin County Court House parking garage on Front St., drivers should follow the detour to southbound High St. and continue to Sycamore St. to northbound Front St.
  • W. Fulton St. closed permanently June 17, 2022 between Short St. and Ludlow St.
  • Livingston Ave. closed to through traffic at City Park Ave. on June 17, 2022 until Fall 2024. Traffic coming from the exit ramp will not be impacted.
  • The traffic pattern on the ramp from SR 315 south to I-70 east changed June 17. Instead of SR 315 south traffic remaining in its own lane to join I-70 east, traffic coming from SR 315 south will have to merge with I-70 east traffic. This pattern will be in effect for a little more than a year.
  • The I-70 eastbound ramp to SR 315 northbound closed permanently March 20, 2022. Drivers coming from I-270 on the West Side should use I-670 east to access SR 315 north. Alternate routes include:
    • I-70 east to I-71 north to I-670 west to SR 315 north
    • Central Ave. to McKinley Ave to Grandview Ave. to I-670 east to SR 315 north
    • Rich/Town St. to SR 315 north
  • The Broad St. ramp to I-71 southbound closed permanently in July 2020.
  • Broad St. is reduced to two lanes westbound and one lane eastbound on the bridge over Interstate 71. Traffic is shifted to the new south half of the bridge so crews can demolish and rebuild the north half. This traffic pattern on Broad St. will remain in effect until Summer 2022.
