The Olentangy Orange Choir certainly got into the Christmas mood this holiday season – and there’s picture proof of that fact!

Actually, let’s call it “video proof.” It comes in the form of a YouTube video showcasing the choir in a “flash mob” performance at Polaris Fashion Place Mall.

For readers which may be unaware of the phenomenon, a flash mob is a group of people who assemble suddenly in a public place, perform for a brief time, then quickly disperse, often for the purposes of entertainment, satire, and artistic expression. Flash mobs may include elaborate dance performances, concerts, or instrumental performances that wow crowds and provide people with a surprising break.

These perormances are meant to entertain, for artistic expression, or for the enjoyment of the participants as they watch the reactions of those around them. Flash mobs can be organized via telecommunications, social media, or viral emails, and they have become popular in many cities around the world including, apparently, Columbus and central Ohio.

For the performance, the Olentangy Orange choir chose a Christmas classic – the “Hallelujah Chorus” from Handel’s Messiah. You can view the flash mob in the video below.
