When Andy Dufresne is convicted of murder and sentenced to life in the notorious Shawshank prison, he discovers that survival takes more than endurance. It takes intellect, quiet rebellion, and the rare power of friendship. Arena Fair Theatre is bringing this story of hope and humanity to life in its stage production of The Shawshank Redemption, running October 24–26 at the Willis Theatre in downtown Delaware.

From Page to Stage

Based on the novella by Stephen King and the acclaimed film that followed, The Shawshank Redemption has become one of the most beloved tales of redemption ever told. The play stays true to King’s original story while giving audiences an intimate look at life inside the prison’s walls—where small acts of courage can mean everything.

Directed by David Hejmanowski, this live production transforms the Willis Theatre into Shawshank itself, capturing both the darkness of confinement and the resilience that keeps Andy’s spirit alive.

A Delaware Arts Highlight

Presented by Arena Fair Theatre, the show is part of Delaware’s vibrant fall arts calendar, drawing local theatergoers and fans of the story alike. Performances will be held at 7:00 PM on Friday, 2:00 PM and 7:00 PM on Saturday, and 2:00 PM on Sunday at 74 West William Street in Delaware.

Tickets are available now through Arena Fair Theatre at bit.ly/3L7hhY8.

For one weekend only, the walls of Shawshank will rise again—this time on a Delaware stage.
