Ohio’s waterways are some of the most popular outdoor destinations, but with this popularity comes the responsibility to operate watercraft safely. The Ohio Boating Education Course (OBEC) ensures boaters understand key safety practices, Ohio boating laws, and emergency procedures. Taught by certified instructors throughout the state, this course fulfills Ohio’s boater education law and is mandatory for certain operators of motorized boats.
Course Details and Topics Covered
The OBEC is a comprehensive, 8-hour course designed to enhance the skills of new and experienced boaters. Here’s an overview of what participants will learn:

This course is provided free of charge and will be held on Saturday, December 14, 2024, from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM at the Horace Collins Classroom at Alum Creek State Park.

Ohio’s Boating Education Requirements
