Special to 1808Delaware from SourcePoint

SourcePoint is holding a fundraising campaign in support of the organization’s Meals on Wheels program. Each year, the nonprofit provides about 250,000 meals to older adults in Delaware County. To support the program and the increased need for home-delivered meals, SourcePoint is celebrating that it provides “more than just a meal!” throughout the month of March.

SourcePoint invites the community to take part in a fundraising drive that coincides with Meals on Wheels America’s national campaign, March for Meals. “More than just a meal!” highlights the nonprofit organization’s dedicated staff, volunteers, and older adults served, and provides an opportunity to donate to Meals on Wheels.

Both organizations celebrate key anniversaries this year. The month of March marks the 50th anniversary of the Older Americans Act adopting the national nutrition program, commonly known as Meals on Wheels. In addition, SourcePoint celebrates 30 years serving the Delaware County community with vital aging services.

SourcePoint’s Meals on Wheels program helps meet the nutritional needs of homebound older adults, combats social isolation, and addresses safety hazards.

“At SourcePoint, we’re fond of saying Meals on Wheels provides so much more than just a meal,” said Alison Yeager, director of communications and development. “We all know the importance of healthy food, but for many of our meal recipients, the daily visit from a friendly volunteer is just as valued.”
