With the holiday season fast approaching, First Presbyterian Church in Delaware, Ohio, is continuing its cherished tradition of spreading warmth and joy by distributing Thanksgiving meal kits to the community. On Sunday, November 24, from 5:00 PM to 5:30 PM, community members are invited to stop by the church for a Thanksgiving in a Bag giveaway—a thoughtful initiative designed to ensure that no one misses out on a hearty holiday meal.

Located at 73 West Winter Street, the church will offer backdoor curbside pickup for this event, creating an accessible and welcoming experience for everyone.

What’s in the Bag?

Each Thanksgiving bag is filled with all the essentials needed to prepare a festive meal, including:

  • Turkey
  • Stuffing
  • Potatoes
  • Green bean casserole
  • Corn
  • Cranberry sauce
  • Pie

These bags are perfect for families and individuals eager to enjoy a home-cooked Thanksgiving meal, complete with traditional dishes that embody the spirit of the holiday. Whether residents are familiar with holiday cooking or new to it, this bag has everything needed to enjoy a wholesome feast.

No Cooking? No Problem

Understanding that not everyone has access to kitchen facilities, the church has also prepared premade meals for those unable to cook. No registration is required—everyone is welcome to take advantage of this offer, regardless of circumstances.

“We want everyone in our community to feel the warmth and connection of Thanksgiving,” a church representative shared. “It’s about sharing a meal, and through that, sharing in the joy and spirit of the holiday season.”

Treats for Kids and Pets

This year, First Presbyterian is also adding a special touch for families with children and pets. Alongside the meal kits, treat bags for kids will be available, adding a festive flair to the event for the youngest members of the community. In addition, food and treat bags for pets ensure that even four-legged family members can feel the Thanksgiving spirit.

All Are Welcome: A Community Coming Together

First Presbyterian Church’s Thanksgiving in a Bag event is a true reflection of community support, with no barriers or restrictions. The church’s open invitation encourages everyone—families, singles, seniors, newcomers, and long-time residents—to come by and celebrate togetherness.

The event is a testament to the generosity of the Delaware community and the church’s commitment to inclusivity and outreach. In times when food security and connection can be a concern, especially during the holiday season, Thanksgiving in a Bag stands out as a beacon of hope and compassion.

For Delaware residents, this annual event offers an opportunity to come together and embrace the spirit of giving, gratitude, and shared community values.
