On Saturday, we launched the new Delaware County Coronavirus Information Page.
The last two weeks have altered the landscape in so many ways and for so many people, as Delaware County’s families and businesses have coped with the unthinkable. With each new day, the ground is shaken under our collective feet and we are finding ourselves working hard to maintain our balance.
The news business has changed overnight. Local media operations, while considered “essential” under the State of Ohio’s Stay-at-Home Order, are nevertheless emphasizing remote work, both in reporting and in content creation.
Perhaps an even more dramatic change is that meetings, events, attractions, and other staples of news coverage have either been canceled or have decreased in number. Posts now focus primarily either on the fight to save lives or the incredible ways in which Richland Countians are coming together to make a difference.
Since we began sharing coronavirus-related stories, we have tried two different ways to collect and share posts. So much happens so quickly each day, however, that it was quickly becoming overwhelming.
We recently realized that we could provide exactly what people need at this time — a central location for important information. We have taken the opportunity to join together links to national, state, and local sources for reliable COVID-19 news and joined that with links to local media and social media content about Richland County’s valiant fight to address this pandemic. We also are posting links to updates from schools, local governments, and businesses.
The result is a new Delaware Coronavirus Information Page which can be accessed here. A link to the new page will shortly be appearing on our home page.
This is a work in progress; in fact, it will always be a work in progress. These links are being updated regularly each day. If you are aware of any important resource or news item that is not included, please email us at [email protected] or DM us on Facebook or Twitter (both @1808delaware).
