U.S. 23 Culvert Project

Starting Sunday, the previously postponed Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) culvert project under U.S. 23 will commence, bringing significant changes to traffic patterns. During this phase, northbound U.S. 23 traffic will be shifted to accommodate construction work in the northbound lanes. Here’s what drivers need to know:

  • Stratford Road Access: Stratford Road will remain accessible via Meeker Way. The northbound U.S. 23 right turns to Stratford Road will stay open.
  • Pollock Road Access: Northbound U.S. 23 right turns to Pollock Road will remain open. However, there will be no left turns to or from Pollock Road.
  • Turkey Hill Access: Access to Turkey Hill will be maintained from Stratford Road and Meeker Way.

Once this phase is complete, the next 14-day phase will shift the construction to the southbound lanes, maintaining only one lane in each direction.

Upcoming Bridge Replacement on U.S. 23

Commencing on July 28, 2024, U.S. 23 will be reduced to one lane in each direction between State Route 315 (SR 315) and Meeker Way for an ODOT bridge replacement project. This restriction is expected to result in significant travel delays. Detailed changes are as follows:

  • Traffic Shift: Northbound traffic will be shifted to the southbound lanes while work occurs in the northbound lanes.
  • Stratford Road Restrictions: No left turns to or from Stratford Road. Northbound right turns to Stratford Road will remain open. Full access to Stratford Road will be maintained via Meeker Way as a detour. All properties on Stratford Road south of Meeker Way will have full access using this detour.
  • Pollock Road Restrictions: No left turns to or from Pollock Road. Northbound right turns to Pollock Road will remain open.
  • Turkey Hill Restrictions: There will be no access from the northbound right turn lane on U.S. 23 to Turkey Hill. Access will be maintained from Stratford Road.

After completing this phase, another 14-day phase will shift the construction to the southbound lanes, maintaining only one lane in each direction.

Plan Ahead for Delays

ODOT advises drivers to plan for potential delays and consider alternate routes if possible. The agency appreciates the public’s patience as these essential infrastructure improvements are made. For real-time updates and additional details, drivers can visit the ODOT website or follow ODOT on social media platforms.

Key Points to Remember:

  • U.S. 23 northbound lane shift starts Sunday, affecting Stratford and Pollock Roads and Turkey Hill access.
  • Bridge replacement project on U.S. 23 between SR 315 and Meeker Way starts July 28, reducing the road to one lane each direction for 14 days.
  • Significant travel delays are expected during these projects.
  • Alternative routes and planning ahead can help mitigate delays.
