A long-running missing person case in Delaware took a significant turn this week after a submerged vehicle and human remains were recovered from Hoover Reservoir.

The Delaware Police Department share an update on this case Wednesday afternoon.

Search teams located the vehicle on December 8 at about 8:00 PM. The discovery was made by Chaos Diving, an independent search and rescue group that has assisted in similar cases around the country. The vehicle was believed to match the blue BMW 430i driven by Trenton Rollins, who was last seen leaving his Delaware home in the early morning hours of March 16, 2025.

Rollins had been reported missing the same month. Investigators found no evidence of foul play at the time and believed he left home on his own.

The Columbus Division of Police Dive Team assisted with the recovery on December 9. During the operation, human remains were found inside the vehicle. Early examination suggests the remains are consistent with Rollins, although final confirmation will come from the Montgomery County Coroner’s Office. Autopsy, formal identification, and further forensic testing are underway to determine cause and manner of death.

Delaware Police officials expressed appreciation to Chaos Diving, the Columbus Division of Police Dive Team, and partner agencies who supported the recovery effort. The investigation will continue as authorities wait for official identification and test results.
