ODOT (Ohio Department of Transportation) is undertaking significant bridge replacement work under US 23, specifically in front of Turkey Hill/The Barn at Stratford. This essential project aims to enhance the bridge infrastructure and ensure long-term safety and reliability for commuters.

Traffic Restrictions Starting July 8

To facilitate the bridge replacement, US 23 will be reduced to one lane in each direction starting July 8. This restriction will remain in place for up to 14 days, during which time ODOT has implemented contract incentives to motivate the contractor to complete the project as swiftly as possible.

The lane reduction is critical for accessing and working on the bridge efficiently, preventing prolonged disruptions that could extend throughout the summer. By focusing on a shorter, more intensive work period, ODOT aims to minimize the overall inconvenience to travelers.

Stratford Road Closure and Detour

Additionally, Stratford Road at US 23 is closed to traffic. A detour has been established via Meeker Way to manage traffic flow and prevent significant cut-through traffic on local roadways. This measure ensures that local roads are not overwhelmed by the diverted traffic and maintains safety for both workers and residents.

Project Updates and Further Impacts

ODOT is maintaining two lanes in each direction on US 23 between SR 315 and Meeker Way as part of the ongoing culvert replacement project. Along with the lane reductions starting July 28, shoulder and median closures on US 23 are also expected.

Community Impact and Safety Measures

ODOT recognizes the inconvenience this project may cause and is committed to completing it as quickly and safely as possible. These temporary restrictions are necessary for the thorough and efficient completion of the bridge replacement, ensuring long-term benefits for all road users.

Motorists are advised to plan their routes accordingly, anticipate delays, and follow posted detour signs for a safer commute during the construction period.
