The local favorite Duck Derby fundraiser is going online this year.

The basics are the same — watch 5,000 rubber ducks float down the Lazy River at Zoombezi Bay. And, as before, proceeds benefit The Alpha Group of Delaware.

The fun will take place this year via Facebook Live.

Ducks are available for purchase for $5 each, with a chance to win $3,000 in cash prizes. Additional information about the event, and package options available for purchase, can be found on the Zoom Duck Derby page. Options include the single pack, quack pack, quaker’s dozen, and the flock of ducks.

As of posting time, some 1,544 ducks had been adopted, representing 31% of the goal and raising $6,483.

The Alpha Group of Delaware began life in 1970 as the Delaware County Sheltered Workshop. It became Alpha Industries in 1980, and in 1989 it was renamed The Alpha Group of Delaware, Inc..

The organization remains the local leader in providing gainful employment, transportation, supportive living, work training, and adult day services to individuals with disabilities, according to its website.
