US 42 is now expected to remain closed between Horseshoe Rd. and the city of Delaware until the end of December due to the wet weather last month. Crews are making progress towards the finish line of this emergency project.

In May, the District Six office of the Ohio Department of Transportation shared news via Facebook and on OHGO.com, the state’s real-time traffic advisory system, that US42 had been closed at SR37 until further notice for “emergency repairs.

A few days later, ODOT revealed the nature of that emergency — a giant sinkhole. According to the department, it has been working with the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, Delaware County Emergency Management, and the City of Delaware to plan and execute repairs.
