All Aboard Ohio (AAO) and the Mid-Ohio Regional Planning Commission (MORPC) are gearing up to host an enlightening session on January 24, 2024. This event will shine a spotlight on the advancements made in the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) Corridor Identification and Development Program.

Economic Impact Analysis Unveiled

The highlight of the session is the revelation of All Aboard Ohio’s Economic Impact Analysis. This study delves into the economic benefits stemming from the proposed passenger rail service linking Cleveland, Columbus, Cincinnati, and Dayton – Ohio’s four largest metro areas. With projections indicating a boost of $106 million to $107 million to the state’s gross product, the long-term benefits are clear. The rail corridor is expected to contribute an additional $25 to $47 million annually following the initial investment. These findings arrive hot on the heels of the FRA’s grant announcements, aimed at rejuvenating and broadening Ohio’s intercity passenger rail service.

Details of the Whistle Stop Tour

The Whistle Stop Tour, scheduled for January 24 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, promises to offer a comprehensive overview of the economic study, FRA’s recent progress, and the next steps for each city along the 3C+D corridor. Interested parties can register for the event at All Aboard Ohio’s event page.

The meeting will take place at MORPC offices, located at 111 Liberty St., Columbus, OH 43215. The office is easily accessible both by car and public transport, with specific parking instructions and bus routes detailed for attendees’ convenience.

Organizations Driving Change

All Aboard Ohio, a non-profit organization, stands at the forefront of advocating for enhanced intercity passenger rail service and public transit across Ohio. Meanwhile, MORPC serves as a vital voice for Central Ohio, offering data analysis, resources, and planning to foster the region’s prosperity and sustainability.
