Ohio Wesleyan University will host its seventh annual “A Cappellooza” voices-only showcase at 7 PM November 2 in Gray Chapel in University Hall, 61 S. Sandusky St., Delaware. Doors will open at 6:30 PM.

This year’s performance is all about “Good Vibes,” focusing on the people, places, ideas, and possibilities that evoke positive, safe, and happy feelings,” said sophomore ZannaLee Carling-Sprewell, co-president of OWU’s Campus Programming Board, which hosts each year’s concert.

“Good Vibes” indicate a “green light, go-for-it” attitude, said Carling-Sprewell, along with related synchronicities, beneficial encounters, and sensations of protection and grace. Examples of songs scheduled to be performed Nov. 2 are “Karma Chameleon,” “Dance with Me,” “Unwritten,” and “Just Haven’t Met You Yet.”

The concert will feature three groups from Ohio Wesleyan and one each from Otterbein and Wittenberg universities. From Ohio Wesleyan, the all-women’s group, Pitch Black; all-men’s group, the JAYwalkers; and coed group, the OWTsiders, will take the stage.

A Cappellooza also will feature a performance by Ember, a six-member vocal group from Baltimore, Maryland, that won the International Championship of A Cappella (ICA) Open Northeast 2018. The group has been proclaimed by Acaville Radio as “the hottest thing to come out of Baltimore since Old Bay (spicy seasoning).”

Formed in 2017, Ember includes an internationally ranked beatboxer, students from The Peabody Institute of Johns Hopkins University, and an award-winning arranger. Learn more at www.embervocals.com.

Tickets to A Cappellooza are $5 for general admission, but free for Ohio Wesleyan students and employees with valid university IDs. Tickets are available online via Eventbrite at https://www.eventbrite.com/e/a-cappellooza-2019-tickets-76809488247
