Ohio Wesleyan University regularly highlights students who are “making the connection” with the world of work through internships, research, and other methods.

These short biographies introduce readers to a variety of stories — personal, in terms of the students making a difference; and topical, as Making the Connection posts concern a variety of fields and disciplines.

So far in March, three students have been the subject of these posts. Click on the link after the introduction to be taken to the full story.

My Ta ’21 was named first runner-up in ASIANetwork’s 2021 Marianna McJimsey Student Paper Competition, recognizing undergraduate student research dealing with Asia. As the national runner-up, Ta will present her work during ASIANetwork’s 28th annual conference, scheduled to be held virtually April 16-18.

Brianna DeMuth ’23 is spending the semester helping professor James Franklin with his ongoing research into protest waves around the world. Franklin developed a methodology to identify the waves and has been gathering information on protests within the waves for the past seven years.

Since fall, Myles Steed ’23 has been volunteering at Ohio Wesleyan’s on-campus Early Childhood Center, a preschool for 3-, 4-, and 5-year-old children. Courses are planned and taught by experienced professional teachers, with opportunities for OWU students to participate in special projects and prepare for their own education and other careers.
