The city of Powell is hosting the first-ever Powell Citizens Academy.

Powell Citizens Academy will be held virtually from 7:30-9 PM every Thursday beginning February 11 through April 1. Participants will have the opportunity to learn more about various functions of their local government, including how the City Manager form of government operates, city finances, public safety services, quality of life programs and more. The program will conclude with a graduation celebration.

Curriculum Overview:

  • Week One: City Manager Form of Government/Overview/Finance
  • Week Two: History of Powell
  • Week Three: Public Safety
  • Week Four: Local services
  • Week Five: Community Development
  • Week Six: Public Service
  • Week Seven: Quality of Life Programs
  • Week Eight: Graduation Celebration
