Southern Delaware County is really getting in seasonal spirit as the City of Powell hosts a modified series of events this year for Holidays in Powell on Saturday, December 5.

Events include:

Santa Porch Parade – 3 PM

This year, the event will begin with the first-ever Santa Porch Parade through Powell. Santa, Mrs. Claus and their elves will travel through neighborhoods in Powell beginning at 3 PM with the help of the Liberty Township/Powell Fire Department, Powell Police Department and the City of Powell Public Service Department. A map of the parade route is below.

Tree Lighting Ceremony

The Santa Porch Parade will conclude with the annual Tree Lighting Ceremony at 6 PM in Village Green Park, 47 Hall Street. This year’s Tree Lighting Ceremony will be streamed live to the City’s Facebook page.

Holiday Concert

The Delaware County-based Central Ohio Symphony’s Brass Quintet and the Fred Astaire Dance Studio in Powell are collaborating on a pre-recorded concert. The concert will premiere immediately following the annual Tree Lighting Ceremony. Families can enjoy the sounds of their favorite holiday classics at home. The concert will stream live on the City’s Facebook Page and website.

Holidays in Powell Experience Packs

The Powell Parks & Recreation Department is providing one of the favorite traditions from Holidays in Powell – crafts and activities. Many local partners have contributed items to the experience packs, including DIY crafts, a letter template to Santa and other goodies for the entire family to enjoy. Register for your activity pack in advance here and select pick up from 1-6 PM on Friday, December 4 or 10 AM – 1 PM in the Municipal Building East Room, 47 Hall Street.

Support Local

Consider shopping and dining local this holiday season. Dine in or order curbside pickup or delivery from one of the local Powell restaurants and pick up holiday gifts from one of the many boutique retail stores. Plan ahead – check store hours and specials in advance of your visit.

“Holidays in Powell is a festive, family-friendly event to kick off the season,” said City Manager Andrew White. “We commend our team and community partners on producing a safe event this year. Families can gather together and enjoy the Santa Porch Parade, watch the Tree Lighting Ceremony and listen to holiday classics produced by our county orchestra from the comfort of their home.”
