Orange Township residents will soon have an opportunity to help shape what public transportation could look like in one of Delaware County’s fastest-growing areas. Delaware County Transit is considering an expansion into the Orange Township and Lewis Center area through DCT FLEX, a proposed on-demand transportation service designed to connect residents with workplaces, shopping, medical appointments and other everyday destinations.

Two public hearings will be held Thursday, July 23, at Orange Township Hall. Residents may attend either the 11:00 AM session or the 6:00 PM session.

A More Flexible Transit Model

Unlike a traditional bus route operating along a fixed schedule, DCT FLEX would provide a more adaptable transportation option based on local demand. The pilot program could offer an alternative for residents who do not drive, lack access to reliable transportation or need additional options for commuting and completing daily errands. Delaware County Transit representatives will explain how the proposed service could operate, answer questions and gather feedback about the transportation needs of the community.

Residents Invited to Shape the Pilot

Public input will help determine how DCT FLEX might serve Orange Township and whether the program could improve mobility throughout the area.

The hearings are open to anyone interested in expanded transportation options, including residents, commuters, employers and family members who help others reach appointments or essential services.

Both sessions will be held at Orange Township Hall, 1680 East Orange Road in Lewis Center. Additional information is available at delawarecountytransit.com. Questions may also be directed to Delaware County Transit at 740-363-3355.
